10 Years
10 Years is an American alternative metal band formed in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1999. The original lineup included vocalist Mike Underdown, drummer Brian Vodinh, bassist Lewis Cosby, and guitarists Ryan Johnson and Matt Wantland. In 2001, Cosby departed, and Andy Parks took over on bass. During this period, the band independently released their debut album, Into the Half Moon.
In 2002, after Underdown left to pursue acting, Jesse Hasek from a local band named Deficit joined as the new lead vocalist. Cosby also returned, replacing Parks on bass. This lineup produced the independent album Killing All That Holds You in 2004. Their growing regional popularity led to a contract with Universal Records in 2005. Under this label, they released The Autumn Effect, featuring the single "Wasteland," which topped active rock radio charts in December 2005. The success of "Wasteland" propelled the band into extensive touring alongside acts like Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, and Korn. The song's music video, addressing themes of human rights and addiction, received nominations for Best Direction and Best Art Direction at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.
Their subsequent album, Division, was released in 2008, followed by Feeding the Wolves in 2010. During this time, the band experienced lineup changes, with founding member Matt Wantland departing in 2009. In 2012, 10 Years took an independent route, establishing their own label, Palehorse Records, and releasing Minus the Machine. This period saw bassist Ryan Collier temporarily joining the band during tours, as Lewis Cosby took time off for personal reasons.
The band's seventh studio album, From Birth to Burial, was released in 2015. In 2017, they unveiled (How to Live) As Ghosts, produced by Nick Raskulinecz, marking the return of members Brian Vodinh and Matt Wantland. Their ninth album, Violent Allies, came out in 2020, featuring the lead single "The Shift," which garnered significant streaming success. In 2022, they released Deconstructed, an acoustic reinterpretation of their previous works.
As of February 2025, 10 Years continues to tour and produce music, maintaining a dedicated fan base and a reputation for dynamic live performances.
