About System of a Down
System of a Down formed in Glendale, California, in 1994, with an Armenian-American identity that informs much of their work. Their heavy metal often addresses political and social subjects, including war and imprisonment. The self-titled debut led into Toxicity, Mezmerize and Hypnotize, with Serj Tankian and Daron Malakian sharing prominent vocal roles.
