Elegant Gypsy
Elegant Gypsy makes Al Di Meola's fast guitar playing part of a wider musical conversation. Rock, jazz and Latin rhythms meet in arrangements that give the keyboards, bass and percussion room to contribute. The technique is a clear attraction, yet the changes in texture matter just as much. Acoustic passages and more reflective playing keep the record from becoming a continuous exercise in speed.
