Light We Made asks for a different kind of attention from Balance and Composure's earlier records. The guitars no longer carry every change through sheer force. Bass, electronic textures and Jon Simmons' quieter singing give the third album a softer outline. That move creates some attractive new spaces, even if the songs occasionally lose their individual shape inside them.
