“What Sober Couldn't Say” is an important test of Into the Wild Life. Halestorm can make an immediate impression with a shouted hook or a heavy riff, but this song asks for something less guarded. Lzzy Hale gives its regret a convincing shape, allowing the country influence to serve an emotion instead of becoming a costume. It shows why the album's attempts to widen the band's sound are worth taking seriously. Not every experiment works as well…
