Heavener

Invent Animate

Heavener is strongest when Invent Animate let a clear melody guide their technical metalcore. The guitars can be dense and demanding, but Marcus Vik's singing gives the arrangements a more immediate point of connection. The album moves between force and open atmosphere with enough care to make those contrasts feel natural. Its familiar genre language is a limitation, although the quality of the writing often matters more than the lack of a new formula.
