Countdown to Extinction
The strongest riffs on Countdown to Extinction do not need many notes to leave a mark. Megadeth simplify their arrangements, put the choruses closer to the front and let the rhythm carry more of the weight. The change works because the songs retain Dave Mustaine's sharp, suspicious personality. Symphony of Destruction is the clearest example.
