Single review: 'Ghost Code' by Smash Into Pieces

Ghost Code

Smash Into Pieces

Smash Into Pieces is back with a new album. Full disclosure: I've been a fan of theirs for years, but for me they've never topped their album Rise and Shine, which is probably my absolute favourite album.

But there is a new contender for that favourite title. Ghost Code starts out incredibly strong with their first song Trigger. The vocals are strong, the guitars are solid... and it has a very poppy rock/metal vibe. If the rest of the album is anything like this, I might be having a new Smash Into Pieces favourite album in a matter of 38 minutes and 27 seconds (the total album length).

The second song, Afterglow, starts out more gentle but turns into a full fledged rock song at around a minute. Once again a strong song that I really like. Smash Into Pieces showcase a mastery of creating modern songs with intensity changes, a pop-like feel and intricate arrangements.
