Cradle of Filth formed in Suffolk, England, in 1991. Their extreme metal grew from black metal into a broader sound involving gothic and symphonic elements, led by Dani Filth's distinctive vocals. Gothic literature, mythology and horror films inform the band's lyrics and imagery, giving their detailed musical arrangements an equally elaborate setting.
