Vena Sera

Chevelle

Vena Sera puts Chevelle's familiar loud and quiet contrasts inside a firm, rhythm-led sound. The guitars stay heavy, while Pete Loeffler's voice gives the choruses their melodic centre. It is an effective version of an established approach rather than a major change of direction. The strongest songs find useful differences within that shape; the weaker passages make its repetition more obvious.
