To be honest, the only reason I went to London Calling (a kind of two-day indoor festival at Paradiso in Amsterdam) was for Angine de Poitrine. Like the rest of the world, I became a huge fan thanks to their live performance at KEXP.
Of course, this creates a risky situation: expectations were sky-high, and not every band can live up to that. They also had very little time (50 minutes), which leaves little room for error.
But after their incredibly strong opening with Angor, they proved they aren't just any band. It was a super tight start, and the whole crowd immediately went wild.
That transitioned into Yor Zarad, which sounds a bit more like math rock than their opening. But man, what a performance. Then they moved on to another banger: Mata Zyklek. This is where the moshpit really took off. Dice were flying through the air. It was just wonderful chaos.
After Sarniezz, another brilliant track, they moved on to their viral hit: Fabienk. As you would expect, the crowd went absolutely wild again. Then again, the energy didn't really drop for the entire concert.
The setlist ended with Sherpa, and everyone let loose one last time. The aforementioned chaos never let up, and that was exactly what made this concert so great.
What surprised me was how much they still managed to interact with the audience. Even though you can't see their faces, they were clearly having a blast, and it showed in everything they did.
If you ever have the chance to see them live: make sure you get a ticket. Because the only bad thing I can say about this concert is that it was too short.
