Treetop Garden
It's wonderful finding an artist with only one monthly listener on Spotify. Not so great for Foureyes, the artist in question, but great because you get to discover something that few others have. GrooveGauge was founded with the goal of giving small artists a chance to show their music to a wider audience, so this fits that mission perfectly. But enough about us; this is, after all, a review.
Treetop Garden starts quietly, creating more of an atmosphere than actual music. Just before the one-minute mark, the track opens up. The Spanish vocals have a calm character with fairly heavy effects, which is clearly an artistic choice. To be fair, the vocals are a bit too buried in the mix for my taste, but that is very subjective.
Rainbows in my Mind also has a very relaxed vibe and flows seamlessly from the previous track. It has a pleasant sound that I appreciate, but at this point, I'm starting to notice that not a whole lot of interesting things are happening musically.
The transition to Montañas suddenly brings some action, which is exactly what you need as a listener at this point. After the intro, there is a nice drop with plenty of bass, and the same now-characteristic vocal style found in the other two tracks. Still, I feel this song offers a bit more variety.
Ultimately, it's a decent EP, and it's certainly not a bad listen. Was I blown away? No. Is it worth spending a short fifteen minutes listening to it? Definitely.
